Alina ist eine talentierte Fußballspielerin und trainiert, um eines Tages in der Nationalmannschaft der Ukraine zu spielen. Doch sie trägt noch eine andere Verantwortung: Neben Trainingseinheiten und Sommer-Camp erzieht sie zusammen mit ihrer Freundin ihre beiden kleineren Geschwister, während der Vater den Unterhalt verspielt. Als die Familie dann auch noch einen schweren Schicksalsschlag erleidet, steht die Qualifikation für das Nationalteam infrage. Mit einer unglaublichen Nähe zu seinen Protagonist*innen gelingt diesem Film das liebevolle Bild einer starken jungen Frau, die die Hoffnung auf ein besseres Leben für sich und ihre kleine Familie nicht aufgeben will. Regisseurin Alisa Kovalenko, die auch für Drehbuch und Kamera verantwortlich ist, hat einen Dokumentarfilm-Diamanten erschaffen.
Talented football player Alina trains hard to play in the national team of Ukraine one day. But in addition to training sessions and summer camps, she takes on responsibility – supported by her girlfriend – for her younger siblings, while their alcoholic father gambles away the child support. One day, the qualifying for the national team is in question due to another stroke of fate. With an incredible closeness to her protagonists, director and writer Alisa Kovalenko manages to create a loving image of a strong young woman, who is not giving up hope in her struggle for a better life.
