Geschichte festhalten wolle sie, damit nichts verloren geht, sagt Pat, eine von sechs Frauen, deren Lebens- und Liebesgeschichte Barbara Wallbraun 30 Jahre nach Mauerfall einfühlsam in ihrem bewegenden Dokumentarfilm Uferfrauen nachzeichnet. So unterschiedlich die Protagonistinnen sind, sie alle eint die Erfahrung, sich als Frau und Lesbe treu bleiben zu wollen in einem Staat, der seine Bürger*innen systematisch dem Zwang nach Konformität und Anpassung aussetzte und sie letztendlich dazu beflügelte, ihre Stimme zu erheben. Nach seiner Weltpremiere im Oktober auf den Lesbisch Schwulen Filmtagen Hamburg, wo er den Publikumspreis als bester Dokumentarfilm bekam, feiert der Film nun bei uns seine Berlin-Premiere.

She wants to conserve history, so nothing is lost, says Pat, one of six women whose life and love story Barbara Wallbraun sensitively tells in her moving documentary Uferfrauen, 30 years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall. As different as the protagonists are, they all share the experience of wanting to remain true to themselves as lesbians living in a system which applied systematic force to make its citizens conform and adapt – which ultimately inspired them to raise their voices. After its world premiere at the International Queer Film Festival Hamburg, where it was awarded with the audience award for best documentary, the film now celebrates its Berlin premiere with us.
